Rathnapura is a famous city for all the Buddhist people in sri Lanka. Also this city is a traditional centre for gem trade. One of the most sacred places Maha Saman Devalaya , Sinharaja Forest , Bopath Ella , Adam's peak , National museum of Rathnapura, Kitulgala are few places in the golden city of Rathnapura. Udawalawa national park the sixth largest aniamal sanctuary of sri lanka and it's the best place in the world to discover wild elephants. The Kithulagala 's main attraction is white water rafting where you can ride the tides of Kelani River. Adams Peak is a 2243 m tall conical mountain well known for the Sri Pada sacred footprint a 1.8m rock formation near the summit which in buddhist tradition is held to be the footprint of lord Buddha.
